Along with other prominent scholars of Tokugawa literature, Professor David Gundry was invited by the Rutgers University department of Asian Languages and Cultures to speak in their Saikaku Bakin Symposium. His lecture will discuss how Saikaku uses geographical location, specifically center and periphery, in his Tales from the Provinces.
