The Karaoke Contest, which was organized by Northern California Japanese Teachers' Association (NCJTA) and California Association of Japanese Language Teachers (CAJLT), was held on Sunday, April 24th at California State University Sacramento. A total of 32 students participated from 10 high schools and universities in the Greater Sacramento area, and our JPN 113 student, Joey Perkins, won First Place! He sang 風の音 by Kumi Tanioka and did an amazing performance. Chenxi Ma and Yifan Shi, our JPN 3 students, also received the Special Award. They sang 茜さす by Aimer and were recognized for their singing techniques. Thomas Angst (JPN 113) and Geoffrey Hatat (JPN 6) also participated and were applauded for their performances. They sang 酒よ by Ikuzo Yoshi and 二人の夏物語 by Kiyotaka Sugiyama & Omega Tribe, respectively. Their love for Japanese songs was impressive to see.
